Delete your Lemown account
Lemown is Ireland's local marketplace. You can permanently delete your Lemown account and the data associated with it at any time — either from inside the app or by sending us an email. Here's how.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the Lemown app
- Open the Lemown app on your phone.
- Go to Profile (bottom tab).
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Your account is closed immediately. Your active listings are taken down right away, and the rest of your data is deleted or anonymised as described below.
Option 2 — Ask us to delete your account by email
If you can no longer sign in to the app, you can email us and we'll delete your account for you.
Subject: "Delete my account"
Important: please send the request from the email address linked to your Lemown account so we can verify it's really you.
In the body of the email, let us know if you want us to delete everything, or just a specific listing or piece of content.
What data we delete
When you delete your Lemown account we delete or anonymise:
- Your profile — display name, avatar, bio, verified badges.
- Your listings and the listing photos you uploaded.
- Your chat messages — your side of every conversation is anonymised so the other party can still see the history of the trade, but nothing on it identifies you anymore.
- The reviews you wrote and reviews written about you, where deletion is possible without corrupting other users' trust histories (otherwise the review text is retained but shown as coming from a "deleted user").
- Your saved searches, favourites and blocked users lists.
- Any push-notification tokens registered against your account.
What we may retain (and why)
A small amount of data may be retained for a limited time, in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable Irish and EU law, when we have a legitimate reason to keep it:
- Legal & regulatory compliance — records we must keep to meet Irish law, EU law, or a court order.
- Fraud & abuse prevention — a minimal record of accounts previously banned or reported so we can prevent the same person from re-registering to harm other users.
- Security — audit logs of sign-ins, IP addresses, and moderation actions, retained for a limited period to investigate incidents.
- Dispute resolution — records of an ongoing report, ban appeal, or dispute involving you.
- Backups — encrypted, offline backups are rotated out on our normal retention schedule (typically within 30–60 days) and are never restored to production.
These records are minimised and kept only as long as strictly necessary for the purpose above.
How long deletion takes
Deletions initiated from inside the app take effect immediately. For email requests we normally complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving your request. We may take a little longer if we need to verify the request or if the account is subject to an ongoing dispute or investigation, in which case we'll email you back to explain.
