1. Never pay before you see the item
This is the golden rule. If a seller wants a deposit up front or refuses to meet in person, walk away.
2. Meet in daylight, in public
For small items, meet in a busy retail park, cafe or Garda station carpark. For large items collected at a house, take a friend, arrange during daylight, and let someone know where you are.
3. Inspect before you pay
Turn on the appliance, test-ride the bike, view the phone booting up. Bring the exact cash amount and hand it over only when you’re happy.
4. Keep chat inside Lemown
Report scams, harassment, or listings that violate the rules from inside the app — our moderators can review the reported conversation and act. Blocking a user stops them contacting you and hides your listings from them.
5. Protect your data
Never share your PPS number, banking passwords or full home address before you’ve committed to a specific meetup. On Lemown, your exact address is private by default — only the approximate area is shown.
Frequently asked questions
What if a buyer or seller behaves badly?
Use the in-app Report feature. An authorised moderator can review the reported conversation to investigate. You can also block the user so they can’t contact you again.
Does Lemown protect payments?
No — Lemown doesn’t process payments. Handing over money happens directly between buyer and seller. That’s why meeting in person and inspecting the item first is essential.
